![Is Remote Driving the Bridge Between Human Drivers and AI](http://danieljhand.com/images/2025-02-11 mckinsey.png)
5G’s low latency, greater throughput and more consistent connections make remote driving technically viable—but is it truly the better option? While 5G can help address reliability concerns, the biggest challenge might not be the network but the human element. Could a remote driver be the weakest link in the system? Would you feel safer with a human driver operating remotely or a fully autonomous system?
Interestingly, a McKinsey survey found that 58% of respondents prefer remote driving over full autonomy. See the data here. What’s your take? Would you trust a remote driver over AI? I'm currently on the side of the minority.
